Diamond is a standard resource in vanilla Minecraft. It is found underground on layers 1-16 as well as in chests in dungeons or abandoned mineshafts.

Increasing yieldEdit

It is possible to either macerate, pulverize, or use the Rock Crusher to get two diamonds from one Diamond Ore. Grinding it in an Industrial Grinder will yield one diamond and one and a half Diamond Dust per ore, for a total of 2.125 diamonds per ore if the dust is converted to diamonds with an Implosion Compressor. Grinding the ore in a Grinder yields an average of 2.25 diamonds per ore with no further processing needed. Using a pick (or Mining Drill) with the Vanilla enchant Fortune III yields an average of 2.2 diamonds per ore. For diamond yield, using a Rock Cutter and putting the ore in a Grinder therefore has a slight edge, with Fortune III being a close second; for obtaining dust, the Industrial Grinder has a significant advantage.

  • While crushing Gravel using the Rock Crusher, there is a chance of <1% to obtain a diamond.
  • A Diamond can be created out of 64 Coal and a few other resources. See Industrial Diamond.
  • Diamonds can be created through alchemy with the Minium Stone and 4 Gold Ingots. Recursively, you can use 32 Iron Ingots, 128 Obsidian, or 256 Wood. A few other methods also yield iron (256 Sand/Cobblestone/Dirt, 1 Ender pearl for 4 iron).
